What is Alma?

An all-in-one system offered by Ex Libris that covers all library operations: selection, acquisition, metadata management, and fulfillment (a.k.a. circulation and e-resource access). Basically, all the back end operations. Alma will replace SIRSI Workflows for library staff. 

What is Primo VE?

Primo VE is the user interface and provides discovery for the library's catalog of physical and electronic resources, as well as consortia resources and resource sharing. Primo VE will replace Ebsco Discovery (EDS) - our current "One Search" product. The Search Box for our users will be getting a new Brand/Logo!

When is Alma happening?

Now! We will go live with the new system in July 26, 2022.

Who is affected by Alma?

Everyone!

  • Reference/Circulation services staff will use Alma for their day-to-day operations vis-a-vis managing patrons, circulating items, maintaining holdings, sending courtesy notices, etc.
  • Technical services staff will use Alma for their day-to-day operations vis-a-vis acquisitions, cataloging, processing, collection development, etc.
  • E-resources staff will use Alma for their day-to-day operations vis-a-vis acquiring e-resources, managing licenses, trialing databases, maintaining accurate holdings/links, etc.
