FAQs

  • Current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to borrow materials from other Ontario College Libraries.

  • This service is free to current students, faculty, and staff. Please note that borrowers are responsible for any lost or damaged items.
  • An entire issue of a journal.
  • E-Resources (eBooks)
  • Course reserves
  • Some audio-visual materials, subject to lending library policies.
  • Delivery times vary based on geographical proximity and the lending library’s policies. Please note that we cannot guarantee arrival by a specific date.
  • You will be notified via email once your item is available.
  • You will also receive an email notification if the request cannot be fulfilled or has been cancelled.
  • If you have placed a hold and are awaiting notification, please monitor your SLC email account.
  • Items will be available for pickup at the library’s circulation desk you selected when placing the request. Please return all items to the same location at the end of the loan period.
  • The lending library will determine the loan period, which is typically 2 weeks.
  • Renewal requests will be submitted on your behalf and are subject to approval by the lending library.
  • Please ensure that the item is returned to us by the due date indicated on the item.
  • You are financially responsible for any damage to or loss of borrowed items. Replacement costs will be determined in accordance with the lending library's policies.
  • You can borrow items from another SLC Libraries campus through an intercampus loan process. Place a hold in Page 1+ or visit us in-person for further help.
  • If you need just a page or chapter, you can request a digital copy through our library’s digitization service.
  • Submit an online request by clicking the Digitization option under Get It in Page 1+.

Reciprocal Borrowing - Ontario College Libraries

SLC Library has reciprocal borrowing relationships in place with Queen's University and the 24 Ontario Colleges. Students at these other institutions may apply for a Borrower Card at the library service desk. Valid student ID must be presented as well as valid Photo ID with current/permanent address.

Queen's University

St. Lawrence College students may visit any Queen's library and recieve a card upon presentation of a current SLC student card.
