Greetings and welcome to the SLC Library. We are delighted you’ll be working with our staff to provide high-quality customer service to fellow students, faculty, staff, and guests at St. Lawrence College.

As a student employee, you are a vital part of the library. You are providing a very real and important service to the library, college, and patrons. Student employees do real work, which gives full-time staff more time to perform other duties.

At the SLC Library, it is our goal to provide you with the best work experience possible. We want you to have a fulfilling and productive work experience and learn skills that will benefit you and your future employers.

This guide is designed to walk you through the steps of several areas when working at the SLC Library.

It includes the processes for each of the tasks that Student Workers are asked to do. It also includes pictures and explanations which can be an asset in learning how to do the job well, and it allows you to return to the guide if you have any questions about how to do something.

If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor or the library technician on duty. We welcome your questions; we are here to help you.
