The library collections contain both historical and current sources, and as such include historical language, vocabulary, and terminology to describe gender, identity, and sexuality.
SLC Libraries recognizes the discriminatory terminology found in established Library of Congress Subject Headings. We are actively working with Provincial partners to update our records with appropriate language.
SLC Alliance Club - The goal for ‘The Alliance’ club is to form positive relationships between students of all orientations to fight homophobia, isolation, marginalization, violence, and exclusion in the community. The Alliance promotes acceptance, respect, and tolerance of all individuals regardless of racial background, socio-economic status, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. Join us to help raise awareness and promote education about homophobia and other forms of sexual oppression.
