eBook Help: Get Started with eBooks

Finding eBooks

By searching the catalogue, eBooks are marked as "Electronic Resource Material". To access eBooks click on the blue button that says "click here" and a new tab or window will open with the eBook.

To show only online resources (eBooks and online videos) select "Electronic Resources" as the library.

By searching with the main box on our homepage, "Discover OneSearch", you can pull eBook titles from many of our subscriptions.

Click on "Read eBook Online" to view the resource.

Platforms

eBooks can also be found through the individual eBook platforms (EBSCO and ProQuest being the largest).

You can read online from anywhere by signing in with your library account or SLC.ME (see our off-campus access guide).

Downloading eBooks to read offline is a more involved process requiring multiple accounts and software. Many books also have the option to print or save as PDF a portion of the book (number of pages varies depending on title).

EBSCO

You can read the full-text of the book through your internet browser but also have the option of downloading it to read offline. For more information on downloading see the EBSCO ebook support center and this video that walks through the steps of downloading an ebook.

ProQuest (eBook Central)

You can read the full-text of the book through your internet browser but also have the option of downloading it to read offline. For more information on downloading see the ProQuest's Ebook Central guide.
